Nosferatu 2024
I don’t always love remakes. By definition they have to add things, be more complicated, fix plot holes, etc. and more often than not, it doesn’t work as well as everyone had hoped.
Not so here, this takes the bones of the original and improves on it in every conceivable way. The original is an undeniable classic, but this one manages to improve on it and be a different film its own right.

This fictionalized telling of the making of F.W. Murnau’s Nosferatu has scares, drama, humor and gore. In the midst of all of that, it manages to become two films at the same time: a horror movie in its own right, while also existing as character study about the extremes someone might go to in order to realize their creative vision.

Is it fun? Sure, it’s likely the most fun movie of the summer in terms of action sequences. The special effects look genuinely menacing, and are leaps and bounds above the 1996 original.
