    A pompous, energetic extravaganza bursting with musical magic! In the second half, I felt more clearly that the transfer from stage play to screen was no longer quite as gallant as at the beginning, but the more episodic structure towards the end didn't take away any of the fun. The sets and choreography are impressive, and the film also uses Oz as an example to pose the question of how fascist systems can arise and why even those we would not have expected can become the beneficiaries of those systems. It's cool, contemporary and a great cinema experience!
