The French Dispatch 2021
An unsurprisingly great time. Features some of Anderson's finest stylistic execution ever but is limited by its anthology form, which for me lessens the film's narrative and emotional coherence. Of the three stories, the Del Toro/Seydoux/Brody section is my favourite.

Conclave 2024
12 Angry Men but make it red, holy and less good.
Looks gorgeous (those scenes in the theatre are some of the prettiest of the year), and Ralph Fiennes is never not great. But ultimately this doesn't ever fizz as much as you want it to, and some of the script is (ironically?) a bit preachy. I didn't find the "twist" dramatically interesting. Still, a good time at the movies - just expect to be surrounded by silver-haired cinema-goers, as I was.
