I have a severe nostalgia bias for this movie, it will always be special. It was the first R-rated horror movie I saw in theaters, and I still love showing people this. This definitely deserves the be in everyone’s fall horror rotation.
Meh. Lot of potential, but from a personal preference side of things I can’t stand awkward, cringey, embarrassing public displays of anything, let alone being cursed. I had to force my eyes to stay open during the family dinner scene. All 2 1/2 stars are for Alison Lohman being a badass and doing most (all?) of the stunts in this movie herself.
An unexpected gem. The audio alone in this film is to die for. From the egg shells cracking, to the sound of India trying the wine, the ambient insects and the bones shattering. I can’t find a single part of this where I wasn’t fully engrossed in what was unfolding before me.
A perfect example of doing more with less. Who needs character development when you can just have gore instead? All these years later and this still easily tops horror movies with budgets 100x greater than it. So simple and so effective, a film that does not pretend to be anything it isn’t. You are here to be scared and this movie delivers.
