  "people didn't really seem to like the slow burn nature of the first film, but they really like the last 15 minutes. Why don't we just make the last 15 minutes of the first film into most of this film"

  Subversion of expectations the movie. From introducing a generic boring love interest only to reveal him as a shit heal and kill him off before the final act to the absolute batshit ending. Just bloody brilliant!
