Anytime I know I need a good cry, I can count on this film. It hits all the emotional punches of an underdog sports movie, and is just about as corny about it.
At its core though, it’s a beautiful story of finding where you belong, class solidarity, the intricacies of queer identity, and developing bonds with unlikely neighbors. I love it so much. We need more triumphant historical gay movies
I’ve never teared up before while watching hands prepare oysters, but there’s a first time for everything. 2/3 of the way through this absolute ~film~, I considered it too long. But by the last 10 minutes, I came around again.
Gorgeous. Visually a perfect film for me. Multiple times throughout the viewing, I felt a visual euphoria. Loved Eugenie’s action-oriented philosophy of love. I liked seeing a tight-knit group of male friends.

My most sincere apologies to the only other person in the theater with me, an older man, who hopefully couldn’t hear me sobbing halfway through and then mutter “what the fuck” at the end
