Anora 2024
Were the characters a little undercooked? Idk maybe. I feel like they didn’t detract from a really robust story. It felt kind of appropriate to me that Ani remains a bit of a mystery, any person I’ve ever met who reminds me of the character is someone who really keeps up walls and remains a bit of a mystery too. And it’s kind of difficult in real life too. She was so believable it’s wild

Everything Everywhere All at Once 2022
I learned that nothing matters because my existence isn’t anything more than an infinity long sequence of meaningless events that all have infinite alternatives which could have lead to ever-more infinite outcomes, and the entire universe is an incomprehensible swirl of matter and energy that somehow led to life and sentient life and me typing on an app called Letterboxd about a movie involving a raccoon chef and butt-plug induced kung-fu.

I think I’d actually rate lower if I didn’t walk out of the theater feeling so entertained. It’s pure cinema fun. And incredibly beautifully shot. It’s ridiculous in a lot of ways, and it really lost me on the finale, but it didn’t feel as long as it was, in a good way. I was just enjoying it.
Kaluuya was so impressive and believable as the main character. Awesome stuff.
The Gordy B story was a miss for me. Seemed not all that necessary and unfinished and badly CGed. Also wtf was with the shoe?? Maybe I’m the dense one?Translated from by
