It’s a vibe. Hollywood-esque though, classic in characters and roles but a catching thriller. Catching plot, great colors, suspense and wild turns in story, a gritty and dark world filled with noir villains, cool investigators, symbolism on a greedy world and so on.

After seeing The Passenger before I preferred the less dramatic, the less „big cinema“ the calm but catchy vibe of the passenger.

Can’t give it less than 4 though. I can see why people are crazy about this movie. While I’m not, it’s still worth seeing.

    Peak 70s adventure/thriller cinema. Excellent!

– überhaupt, sehr sehr viel Zeitlupe in diesem Film…)

Das was ich bei Rick and Morty schon immer die schwächsten Stories fand – und ja, den Vergleich kann man hier…

The smell of gasoline permeating that slow paced heartwrenching movie. Telling a story of essential loss of a loved one, point zero, going into hibernation, viewing life through a numb filter.

Philip Seymour Hofman really captures that feeling well.

It’s not so much about recovery from trauma but more about exploring the depths of that horrendous feeling.

It doesn’t give much hope but despair, grief and numbness although it tends to keep a playful and light tone, sometimes downright quirky and tragically funny.

All in all a rather difficult and lengthy film although not bad at accomplishing what it tries to explore.
