The Thief and the Cobbler 1993
Recobbled version. The animation is quite impressive, very detailed and plays with various optical illusions. The war march was the highlight for me. An absolute gem. But the poor story structure ensures that this will be recognized for the animation alone. Equally as important, the Orientalism is as cringey (hard to watch) as in Aladdin, if not a tad more so. Both movies share many obvious similarities. The thief can definitely be read as anti-Semitic imo. Overall, a culturally insensitive kaleidoscopic animation project that might interest media studies and animators.
