The colors were insane. The shots were beautiful and intriguing and so intentional. I was so unsettled by the simplest things and greatly upset at the most horrifying of things. A glass of water.. The bear? The fungus?! THE ALIEN?!?!
It perfectly spun psychological & body horror together into something breath-taking and spine-chilling.
To lose your grief and trauma and identity into an infinitely refracting, ever-growing, unidentifiable mass, and to be rebuilt into something else entirely………
A delightfully gory and well-thought-out tale of the horrifying transformation of puberty (and I guess also becoming a werewolf).
The opening scene gives you a taste of EXACTLY what you’re getting into (without being too distastefully gory): a normal suburban life, with a slowly increasing amount of blood, until the final terrifying reveal. They go from normal teen angst to full on monster movie, slowly amping up the tension and gore as the movie goes along and taking their time…
