A long time coming, and yeah it’s kinda exactly what I expected. A great film but just not my favourite type of cinema. Well directed and well performed. I can see why people love it, but did I change my life like it has so many others…. Definitely not.

I think the marketing of this film ruined it for me. And I hate that. It shouldn’t be positioned as an erotic thriller because it’s just not that. The whole time I was waiting for more to come because of this expectation. Like objectively yeah it’s actually a good film, with great tension and performances. But I was just waiting for more because of the campaign behind it. I hate it when the business side of films seeps into the overall reception. This is why I like not know anything about a film before seeing it.

A Real Pain 2024
There’s only few actors in this world that can illicit such a response as Kieren Collin and Jesse Eisenberg can. Playing on a knife’s edge of annoyingly fucking-obnoxious and beautifully charming and loveable. What a great little film that cuts through so much bullshit and feels all too real. It had some Wes Anderson styled visuals coupled with a Noah Baumbach styled dialogue. Never has a title been so apt.
