    perfect distillation of everything appealing in the genre. the matter-of-factness of the extremity. intimacy and violence treated as equally casual and equally profound. and there's so much of it - there's no one money shot here, but twenty unrelenting minutes of incredible effects work. there's a closeup of a woman's face toward the end of this. sometimes life passes you by and it's not within your power to stop it from happening.

    this is the point of noncanon specials. telling a love story between a cat and a human guy and taking it DEADLY seriously. Luna is REAL and she's VALID and so are her FEELINGS. EVERYONE deserves to pine pathetically in Usagi's utopian Earth. This is as beautiful and also as funny as it sounds. Cat kissing a man on the lips. Girls sitting around a table gossiping about their cat friend staying out all night with a potential lover. Incredible.…
