It is interesting how this movie captivates you and creates a latent tension, even though it doesn't progress very quickly at the beginning. This is likely also due to the excellent soundtrack. Towards the end of the film, the plot gets a bit tangled, but probably intentionally. All in all, a very good and stirring film.

The subtle philosophical references only become apparent upon closer examination. Nevertheless, the film is very accessible to all viewers. Moreover, it asks a question that few have likely thought about before, but undoubtedly will after watching: What is beauty? Director Mendes encourages intense contemplation and close observation, fitting the plea "look closer." A sophisticated work that mercilessly unmasks the lives of the families in this American suburb. Sensational.
