The trailer made it look like a prehistoric The Ritual, which is one of my favorite horror movies so I was excited to watch it. However, it wasn't that in the slightest. It was essentially caveman vs caveman featuring moody lighting and a weird guilt trip near the end.

I've never read the manga, so I don't know if the simplistic storytelling was the fault of the manga or the show, but it could've used a bit more character development. Everyone felt very one dimensional. The art reminded me of old school anime though, which was enjoyable.
Not a bad anime movie if you're in the mood for something dystopian that you don't have to give too much thought to. Liked it for the visuals, even if the dialog was lacking.
