Can’t believe I left it so long to watch this. The perfect balance of Burton and true-story subject matter.
This is the most Waltz that Christoph Waltz has Waltzed, and superbly counterbalanced by an emotionally gripping Amy Adams.
Absolutely glued from start to end, wrapped in stylistic flirtations with Burton’s best that never quite delves into overly-surreal.
Very very happy this popped up, as it flew under the radar at time of release.
Visually unnerving, simmering tension and multi-layered metaphors.
Jordan Peele pulls off higher level concepts and bookending here, which may confuse viewers and admittedly had me analysing and questioning things afterwards (not necessarily a bad thing).
Doesn’t hit the heights of ‘Us’ for me, if comparing to other Peele films, but very much stands strong in its own sci-fi thriller lane.
Will definitely rewatch!
Well at the age of 34, having known about the sheer influence and iconic status of this film for my entire life… I have finally seen it!
I loved many aspects of Jaws: the premise is simple but entirely captivating throughout, the cast expertly deliver anguish, emotion and frustration; and the animatronics hold up very well for a 1975 production.
The shots are dramatic, pacing ebbs and flows the tension and the pay-off is satisfying.
Glad to have finally ticked…
Star Wars delivered through the daring eye of Rian Johnson. A cinematic masterstroke of such a highly regarded franchise that flies in the face of the formulaic. Excitement, emotion and destruction married together. Wildly underrated by a barrage of “true” Star Wars followers.
