One of the poorest scripts ever written…completely boring, unconvincing, and no horror at all. It’s all like a shitty makeup.
Maybe the cinematography saved some scenes.

The only good parts are the opening and scenes before they go to the fucking festival.
The suicide and homicide in the family are portrayed through immensely disturbing cinematic language, which I think is even more horrifying than all the festivities after.
The scene that the camera follows the gas pipes and ends at the email screen, is more memorable and meaningful than the flowers and bear or anything after.

A story that is so bad that I want to unwatch.

The script can be way better if it illustrates more profoundly on the trajectory of the fruit market history and family memories: the metaphors and poetic elements are very important yet it is not fully explored and developed.
Now the whole film is quite pointless and poorly developed, especially when the story takes place after the 2019 protests in Hong Kong, the cinematic details never try to portray a bit of the social-political landscape that no one should overlook.

The outcome is shallow because it doesn’t deepen our understanding of that particular place of Hong Kong at all.
