  I really thought this was going to be one of my best-liked films of all time, the novel being one of my favourites, Saoirse incredibly talented and the Irish accent and landscape just the perfect background setting. I was determined to love this film. And it was good, yes, Saoirse was indeed exceptional and Nick Hornby's script well-written. But somehow I cannot help but feel disappointed. It just seems that someone took this beloved story of mine away from me and turned it into a weary Hollywood version of it.
