  Shortbus 2006

  This was probably a hoot for anyone who was on the scene when this took place, and it was a tender story handled with grace at its core, but the extreme 2006-ness of the setting ruined it for me. I didn’t get Animal Collective til only a few years ago because that scene was so exclusive, and all the cameos here made me feel like I was looking in on a party I’d never be cool enough to attend. They say the title.

  I think this diminishes Jim Henson, George Carlin and Andy Kaufman. I think PSH deserved better and I think his son deserves better. Had some moments but, much like the first episode of Saturday Night, this dragged. They say the title.

  While not as aimless as Gummo, Julien Donkey-Boy bolsters my feeling that Harmony Korine and Larry Clark do their best work together. 

  The constraints of the Dogme 95 movement are the real star, here. This is all color, all chaos. Werner Herzog is a bully. They don’t say the title.

  I would never have stopped doing drugs if they’d been anywhere near as fun as this looks. I got tired of being too high to move, laying in a heap somewhere, wondering when things were going to happen.

  Far as I can tell this is the last great Gilliam film. Maybe the last grand gesture of any Python.

  There was a time when it seemed like Christina Ricci was going to be in our minds forever. That time was 1998. I’d love that aspect of 1998 back. 

  There is nothing good to do in Las Vegas without drugs. They don’t say the title.
