  directing and sound mixing absolute standouts. really hope Coralie Fargeat secures that Oscar! really liked a lot of the themes discussed in the script - especially the relationships Elisabeth and Sue had with food, so interesting - but find it hard to believe that a screenplay which called its late night show The Show and the new years eve show New Years Eve Show should get original screenplay. given that this is truly truly NOT my genre, I enjoyed this so much more than I thought I would!

  no film adaptation of wicked was ever going to be as good as the stage production, but this made a valiant attempt. i was pleasantly surprised by the castings, and the costume design in particular was stunning. that being said, i cannot fathom what it is about this movie which has provoked such a public explosion of adoration and awards season clamour. everything which is interesting or inspiring about the film is pulled straight from the aesthetic and sonic designs…
