Three Crowns of the Sailor 1983
Every Ruizian element present in his earlier films makes its way here and flourishes into its peak form resulting in a surrealist odyssey replete with all sorts of colors, angles and sequences that, as they end, feel like they were imagined, characters that feel like they came from a dreamt-up fairytale and the intense feeling of longing, looking for a meaning for the life that would otherwise resemble a waiting room to Death's office.

What's captivating about this film is the almost esoteric atmosphere created by the choreographed long takes of ritualistic looking procedures meant to find the partisans out, an actual look at a part of Hungarian history that is put on camera in an ethereal way by Jancsó.
