I love the characters in this film when Fio and Porco Rosso separate at the end it's actually pretty sad
I don't really get the plot though, like why are the pirates against Porco Rosso and how do the Italian fascists play into it?

I honestly sat on this for about two weeks, thinking about the reason why this deserved 5 stars.
It's because this story is very personal to me. As a person who is a paranoid overthinker, I really related to the characters here; pretending to be people they aren't to avoid discomfort. That reason is also why it's hard to critique this film. A critique of this film is a critique of myself.
Nevertheless, I love this film, and it's crazy that this film is still relevant although its message was for audiences from 7 years ago.
