    Lost scenes and resultant jerky editing aside, the remaining magnificence is pretty undeniable.

    That tacked on final scene is rough and sure, some plotting gets muddled and temporarily confusing but if you're following along you can grasp what's occurring. That Welles narration and the playful, lyrical dialogue that gives way to some truly nuanced character interactions never gets unenjoyable to follow anyway.

    The tragedy of the Amberson family neatly parallels the tragic development of this comprised but still incredible film.
