This and forever will be the perfect Christmas movie. And the best part about it is that it’s not super Christmasy! The settings are luscious, the chemistry between characters is unmatched, and the various representations of love stories are defining for the genre.

It’s cute but a little scattered in the intent. I think the biggest thing saving this movie is the cast. I really like the main characters, even if the writing wasn’t so great, and I think that with the right tweaking this movie could be a lot better.

As far as a movie musical goes, this is how it should be done. The stage show is such a spectacle and the movie did not disappoint. I will admit that I do think it was a bit long, even knowing that the story is split into two movies. There were some moments that went a bit long, and at other points I wish there was more exposition that I thought we’d get in a 2 and a half hour movie.
