Mickey 17 is a damned good film harkening to the jam packed sci-fi films of the 80’s. A comedy adventure film wrapped in Joon-ho’s razor sharp critique of capitalism (and Christian nationalism). Knock out performances from the cast, plenty of shirtless Pattinson screen time, and the cutest
alien creatures I’ve seen in awhile.
This one was a doozy. Given all the discussion it’s generated during award season, I decided to try and give Emilia Perez a chance. It wasn’t as terrible as everyone had said but it certainly strays far from greatness.

But seriously folks, Egger’s damn near perfect remake is a masterful ode to the original, beautiful, haunting, and downright disgusting at times. While some modern audience members might find the pacing a bit off-putting, your patience and dedication will be rewarded by a film that manages to still be genuinely frightening. Catch this one in a crowded theatre folks! Strap in and surrender to the darkness from within.

A creative and atmospheric ode to 70’s slasher film with all the gratuitos violence, classic tropes, and killer POV that long time horror fans will recognize. The film lags at various points which keep it from being truly great, but overall an enjoyable modern slasher.
