  A sequel to the origin of the Mythological character Ne Zha, this sequel is visually stunning. The incredible animation works hand in hand with Taoist culture to create spectacle after spectacle. More than once I thought “This shot would make a sweet background”.

  The story itself leaves a little to be desired. Some characters are introduced only to be done away with 20 minutes later. I did enjoy the twist. Without giving too much away, it’s a modern view on a centuries old story, which I wasn’t expecting from this animated film.

  I’d be angry at the Justice system if I weren’t busy crying.

  No, wait, still angry at the Justice system. The resilience of these men (who play themselves!!!) who are able to immerse themselves in art despite the system is inspiring.

  I’ve seen this cat in one movie but if anything happened to it I’d unalive everyone and then myself. 

  After a comically absurd amount of studio credits, the movie has its hooks in you from the get-go. Cat people especially will fall in love with this cat and cheer for it throughout its adventure in this film. There may not be any dialogue, but there sure is a whole lot of heart.
