The Substance 2024
The Substance is pretty much what you'd expect from the outset, and unfortunately predictable and formulaic. It has little to offer beyond the heavy stylization and caricature.
To its credit, I think Moore’s casting is necessary to this film and Qualley’s performance similarly elevates their dynamic.
However, while it has some great visual moments and quiet motifs that speak more to the film’s central idea than the overall film does, these themes, and in very similar ways, have been explored…

Halloween Ends 2022
“Halloween Ends” quite literally fails to do anything right.
It fails at building tension.
It fails at consistent characterization.
It fails at basic plot progression.
It fails at maintaining tone.
It fails at giving any character a decent arc.I’m simply left stunned by the choices that have been made here. It can’t even give a follow-through to the finale of “Halloween Kills” wherein an injured Laurie Strode leaves the hospital to hunt Michael as he waits for her in his childhood home.
Wholly inept writing at every turn.
