I wasted a lot of time re-writing the last half of this film. I thoroughly enjoy watching Hugh Grant charm and stutter his way through any number of roles -- no matter how wrinkly he gets -- and I thoroughly enjoyed watching him charm and stutter his way through this one. BUT. Would the premise of this film worked if some other actor had been cast?
It works (well, half of it) because Hugh Grant (not the character as written)…

Well, this was just lovely. They had me, of course, with the capybara. Animation a joy to soak (pun intended) in. Shaved half a star just because it was a tiny, wee bit too anthropomorphic -- not the operation of the rudder -- I had a cat once who could operate the lever on the water bottle -- but the inter-species love. I know, I know that was the message for us HUMANS -- but, still, it bugged me a little.
