Been thinking about this movie a lot recently, and the way that without direct acknowledgment, every family in this was destroyed.
A state, culture, and lifestyle built on abuse and allowance, the country that was to liberate and expand Lazlso and Erzsebets lives, culture, and humanity was what diminished their structure.

A deep love that could not find refuge in it’s own dreams. Only moments in run down synagogues, and hidden away under conditional hospitality in a rich man’s…

A story of empathy, culture, and perspective that I deeply needed. I look forward to rewatching this film all throughout my life.
Have not bawled like this to a movie in a long time, so moving.

I see you, Iris. I feel your pain. Damn, what a hitter! Kills were a little tame, and cinematography was a bit standard for my tastes in horror movies (I like out there editing, framing, lighting etc.) But they killed me and I’m sure many other former companions on the inside, so that works too. 2025 horror has been off to a fantastic start.
I hope this wins a screenplay award, because THANK YOU.
