  The sword and sandal genre has historically been hit-or-miss for me, but I really enjoyed this one which is redeemed by the tournament, a good final battle scene, Anna Ranalli, the smug detestable villain character (Anchóriz and Harrison are good foils for each other), and, more than anything, Carlo Rambaldi's amazing creatures. The Medusa is the real star of the show. The opening and closing songs on the English dub are joyfully goofy. A really good time.

  A sunburnt daydream of 1960s youth culture featuring innocuous narration, post-dubbed dialogue, beautiful locales, and a jaw-dropping orchestral pop score from the always great Stu Phillips. Highly recommended. (Watched via the excellent Scorpion Releasing DVD.)
