Michael Pollen said "set and setting" is everything when taking psychedelics. I think the same can be said for minimalist films about anarchist watchmakers in 19th century Switzerland.

The cinematography and sound design are flawless, but the lack of narrative momentum demands patience...and I had to watch this in 4 sections. Admirable take on capitalism vs anarchism, without ever raising its voice. Feels bemused and precocious in its effect, nearly playful in its exegesis on the social milieu of the…

That's one unique way to execute an assisted suicide.

Alain Guiraudie is a homoerotic Bunuelian surrealist who creates uncanny tableaux with unsettling non sequiturs, banal deus ex machina interventions, and libidinal bursts of human connection.

Beware the Oscar-winning director who's given carte-blanche - and an unlimited budget - to realize his next vision. Mickey 17 is a bouillabaisse of ideas that never fully cohere...entertaining and aggressively unpleasant in equal measure. [Stop trying to make "sauce" work!]

Robert Pattinson and Naomi Ackie are a blast to hang out with, but the bug-eyed, caricatured hamminess of Ruffalo and Collette are a drag (all props to Tilda Swinton who somehow makes these type of clown show performances humorous…
