Plan 75 2022
For such a loaded topic, I don’t feel like it left me with sufficient intellectual nor emotional clarity. Pacing felt disjointed and character development wasn’t great. But its modern day setting definitely added to the dystopia of it because damn it did it feel plausible.

Compartment No. 6 2021
Something profound about temporality, connection and insignificance, set against a majestic winter landscape, working class gruff and moonshine.
I think there is comfort in seeing one’s emotional state externalised in the setting - the Russian winter is as stark as Laura’s insides, and the transient nature of the train brings companionable loneliness and a sense of motion (anywhere but where I am, please).
I also love that we never ever got to see the petroglyphs - production budget considerations? Or a final fuck-you to the things that we attach so much meaning to but ultimately leave us empty upon attainment? Either way, living for it.
