  This movie is not good, particularly the writing (and everything about their relationship), though I can't help love the absurd premise. A perfect group watch to mostly talk through.

  The premise is really a vehicle for these two to do exactly what you expect from them, but it all just about works to be entertaining enough. A sense of humor and good performances put it just a notch above forgettable

  A pastiche of its inspirations, a stereotypical hero’s journey, and there’s still nothing else like it. Easy to forget now that it's the ur-franchise, but this was a daring technical film-making endeavor, with world-building and an aesthetic all its own. The "best" film ever, maybe not, but my favorite and most formative: Iconic, influential, emotional, and fun.
