  If Godzilla 2014 is an example of how to do a serious Godzilla, this movie is an example of how to do a cheesy one. Is it intelligent? No. Are the characters interesting? No. But the plot and fight scenes fit in perfectly with the movies from the 60s/70s (just a lot cooler looking). Cut out 40 minutes worth of feigning dramatics, the stranger things cast, and the “conspiracy theorists are edgy and cool” subtext and you have a real winner.

  Fun fact: Joe Wehmeyer has never seen this movie
