  it's incredible how a film with a relatively narrow scope can be about so many things. trauma, humiliation, violence, revenge, sexual violence; in the end, it's about loving yourself and changing the world. i previously watched this as a teenager and went "woah cool body horror" and now i have Seen the Light. more or less a perfect film if you can handle its imagery and subject matter
