  I was gonna write a convoluted review about why I love this movie so much, especially now after reading the book, but it was too long and I give up. Love the turtles and the exploration of what it means to be Catholic and the cinematography and the symbolism and the weird old gay people.

  Thanks to this production for fueling my King Lear obsession. So many good things about this. So so many. First off, the casting of this was incredible. Sir Ian Mckellen is as wonderful as always. To watch an actor with decades of Shakespearean theatre experience was a wonderful breath of fresh air (see my review of Hamlet [2009]), and I have never seen Lear more properly acted in my life.
