In dire need of restoration but I found it quite engaging. Thought it was much better than its reputation would suggest.

charming and funny.

Mary Pickford shines in this film. Her Stella is charming but it is her performance as Unity that really shows what she can do. This was my first Pickford film and I now get why she was so beloved. The film itself isn't brilliant - it drags at times, it's not the strongest plot and the cockney intertitles are honestly a bit much - but Mary Pickford's performance more than makes up for it imo.
I also have to give credit to Marcia Manon's performance as Louise, she made a great villain and almost steals every scene she is in.
I would recommend it.

This is one of the saddest films I have ever seen. Definitely worth seeking out.
