  Doesn’t quite capture the wit of the books, but the goofy humor and heart that sneaks up on you is certainly here. My kids and I had a ball (from the yarn yurt).

  So slick and stylish, with a cast oozing with elegance and charm. I took off a half star because arguably it’s not that deep. But if it’s trying to be a cat and mouse spy thriller, does that matter?

  A funny, earnest, and probing take on heritage, privilege, guilt, and the immigrant experience. Enjoyed this one a lot and would generally recommend it.

  It does, however, expend all its energy on Kieran Culkin’s character at the expense of Eisenberg’s. That kind of tracks considering the story, though. Culkin gives an effusive, explosive performance that outgrows the movie he’s in.

  The action set pieces and Denzel Washington’s performance made this worth a watch, but I kept wanting the screenplay to be better.
