I’m sorry son. I should have done better.
It’s hard for me to remember sitting and watching a show this captivating that isn’t an anime in the past couple years. Adolescence is absolutely brilliant. The series’s does a fantastic job of subverting the true crime/mystery genre and slowly transitioning it into a heavy, but riveting melodrama. The themes of toxic masculinity and youth violence are so relevant today that the story connects with the audience on a different level.

Bong Joon-Ho returns with another masterpiece of social commentary. The blending of a sci-fi and political satire is a somewhat overplayed, but brilliant genre pairing. The way Bong Joon-Ho is able to navigate through the underlying themes and nuances of class separation and authoritarianism is absolutely fantastic.
