Standard rubbish to mediocre 'Direct to Video' fare with no novelty in the plot, it's all been done before at a much higher standard. With Michael Jai having the lone writing credits I'm surprised as the main lead he was quite reserved with the number of lines he gave himself, maybe to hide his wooden acting.
I've enjoyed plenty of individual Clooney and Roberts films before (actor and/or director), but was intrigued by them pairing up. This unfortunately was as dull as ditch water and in no way stretching their immense talents in any way, maybe due the 'soft' slushy subject 'romcom' subject matter. I speculate the very good friends found this as an opportunity to spend a couple of months togther while shooting it and script, plot and pay cheque may not of been an issue for once. Imagine these two in a tight thriller with plot twists and engaging dialogue and I'm all in!
It all starts here and a good opener to begin the franchise with. Connery in a black tux in a casino with the now immortal line 'Bond, James Bond'. The film is void of invisible Aston Martins, exploding pens and submarine Lotus's and the stripped back to basics 007 is a joy to watch. The Mission Impossible franchise never tires or looks stale, Ghost Protocol is another fine example of a great action film. The stunts in Dubai are ground-breaking for the time and Renner's leap in Mumbai a nod to the classic Cruise stunt.
