Rewatched this for the 5th or 6th time, but this time got to experience it in 70MM IMAX (15/70 at AMC Lincoln Square).
I felt like I got baptized. Still maintain that this is the best movie of all time and certainly still my #1.

Took a while to cook on this one before writing a review. I'll start with giving credit where it's due – the sets and costumes were great. Casting and singing were wonderful and whimsical in a way Oz should be. I liked the way it started and wrapped around to the ending. I think it was cheeky that they didn't advertise the movie as a Part 1 until you saw the title card.

Hard to rate this one bc it's a lot of fun and the characters are lovable, but the story is shallow af and the MCU multiverse stuff is starting to get really annoying.
It's gotten to a point of being intolerable, they just add a new canon event / special being / critical point whenever and wherever they want. It's the curse of this whole phase; all these multiverse movies feel like they have no stakes.
