Faust 1926
four years after nosferatu, eine symphony des grauens, f.w murnau adapts one of humanity's greatest stories. a silent film on epic sizes, similar to Memetropolis. a film that has undoubtedly lasted the test of time, only getting more acclaimed and interesting as time goes.
simply a classic story about the conflict between god and the devil, good and evil. f.w murnau is able to turn such insignificant matters into something worth debating. faust's narrative still resonates today. this is a one-of-a-kind experience that no moviegoer should miss, as the absence of sound in cinema is as potent as any verbal language.

The Color of Pomegranates 1969
really love these films because they remind me that there is an entire world and thousands of years worth of cultural heritage and tradition out there, with many different systems for telling stories or representing the world trough images having developed over the centuries, and yet most cinema chooses to only draw on a very tiny fraction of these possibilities. parajanov reminds me just how expansive cinematic expression can be.
