*admittedly got too sleepy and didn’t finish before the dvd rental was due back…*
But as a fan of everything and anything involving practical creature effects and absurdly meticulous stop-motion work: this absolutely blew my mind! The way the creatures emerge in context, how their fur and limbs move…I can only imagine how special it must have been to see this when it first came out.
Also, those kids threw better fits than just about anyone I’ve seen in recent memory (especially the sweaters). Need to start dressing like a midcentury little Czech boy ASAP.
