This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
I don't think think MCU movies should slavishly adhere to each other in an interconnected universe. But I do think a movie series should adhere to its own rules, and especially the rules in a two hour space.

It's so weird to watch a movie made by THE George Miller and offer him any advice, but it really required some kind of thematic bookend. The last couple of scenes or so really felt like a different movie, and at times a callback to an opening that was cut at the last minute.
I'm probably not super generous to this movie because I just saw this soon after right wing Twitter was obsessed with asking a chatbot if it would use a racial slur if that was the password to deactivate a bomb. That 1) Is such a ridiculously specific situation and 2) There' something somewhat disingenuous about asking somebody to pay with a dollar that's worth more to them than yourself. I guess if wanted to be generous to Shyamalan, this was his attempt to endear the Queer community to the more religiously minded, but I came away from it maybe less religiously tolerant.
