Recently rewatched this.
The scenes of the beginning are great, especially the death scene. The relationship between the mother and the son hit me in a very personal way. Roth is AMAZING. It has this really great musical cues, like the first scene in Barcelona. Once she gets there and it gets all soap opera-y it's sweet that she goes around helping people but it lost me a bit anyway.

Aesthetic is this epitome of 50s suburbia.
Movie is a bit storyless? Turner is great, almost scary at times, her voice is so husky and cool. Sometimes she's a super sweet trad lady and sometimes she's so rowdy you absolutely believe she could attack someone with a piece of meat. The Sweetest Thing 2002
Dumb as hell and really fun. Diaz was so charismatic and the ending was sweet. Humor is a bit too much gross-out to my taste but at least it doesn't go all in like other flicks in the time period. Aesthetic is so very early 2000s too, everybody looks like the Backstreet Boys. Overall just a really good time.

Mysterious Skin 2004
This was a rough one. Made me veeeey uncomfortable at several points. I knew it was a queer film and it had some strong stuff, I was surprised by how very much indeed this is one of "those" films, the Real Heavy ones.
Acting and production was great, visuals are so dreamlike and I LOVED the shoegaze/dreampop aesthetic and music. A part of me just wants to gush over how pretty the movie is.
