The electric state is a beautiful graphic novel by Simon Stålenhag that explores overconsumption, the dangers of nostalgia and examanations on isolation in the digital age. Its beautifully drawn and kinda weird but good. The electric state movie is a bloated sprawling "epic" who wears nostalgia like a coat and tries to keep you intrested with sacharine emotional beats. Its unfortunate. Thats about it. Watch something else. Hell, ready player one has more hesrt than this.

Man. Pixar has been lacking so hard for me recently. But this is amazing man. Wraps up a little to quick at the end. But is still very sweet and good. Im impressed by the creativity of the whole thing, animation is also super smooth and imaginitive. Its also fine that laurie is religous. Kai is still trans man even if they dont say it. Like you still get it and im amazed they didnt scrap all of it completely.

Long story short this is just disappointing.

This isn't meant to be an adaptation of the graphic novel series DMZ it really just uses the setting and the names of certain characters. If this was done well or with respect to the themes of the books then I could see this being good. The story of a mother willingly entering the DMZ (a dying new york a city of tribes left to die by two sides who claim to be…
