  was traumatized by this movie when i was 11 years old because of all the blood spewing and limb slicing… now after rewatching it i can confirm that i actually love this movie! also lucy liu is a baddie and i stand by that

  watched this for a film class, overall was very uncomfortable seeing a white woman play a role meant for an asian actor. aside from the problematic aspects of the film, i think for the time this movie was produced the editing and stage/setting elements were impressive for the time. for example,  i think the use of vignette was very clever, especially where it symbolized the darkness closing in on cho cho san as she lost pieces of her identity while trying to appeal to pinkerton.
