Quite late to watching this but as a message to my future self if I ever have a daughter - going through puberty is different through the generations. A film with an interesting take on generational hurts and expectations of Asian households, A film for its time again and another Disney dive into the villain is not an external party with no relation to you but the tensions caused back home from family or traditional expectations.

Ticket to Paradise 2022
A 2022 take on the will they won’t they post-divorcé. Captures the family tensions and dynamics between parent(s) and child pretty well. Not sure how well Orientalist lenses take to this film’s setting and portrayal of the Male protagonist’s background but George Clooney and Julia Roberts still have the onscreen chemistry!

Caught this in theatres. The representation through setting, cast and song was really quite captivating.
Having some idea of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s work allows you to see how magnificently woven melodies can be and how songs can tell seamless stories without being too “musical”.
Another pretty decent animated hit from Disney, especially following Coco!
