  It is not necessarily easy for a film that is over 65 years old to make today’s viewer laugh, relate or engage, and this film succeeds in doing just that. Set in the era of Prohibition, it explores avant-garde themes such as gender and sexuality, even verging on LGBTQ+ themes.
