Controversial maybe, but I was absolutely taken by this movie. Timothee Chalamet’s act was something out of a dream (even if his English accent coukd have used some help). The cinematography made the film appear like a painting of 1400s English artists, like we were transported back to the visuals and colour scheme of the time. And the soundtrack — Nicholas Britell!! Need I say more.
Also, Chalamet’s and Lily Rose Depp’s few scenes together were charged with a undercurrent…
Made the mistake of watching the series, IWTV (2022), before the film so I was both amazed at all the differences and surprised that some plot choices made more sense in the 2022 adaptation. Claudia killing Lestat? Lestat biting Daniel Molloy? No trial with Lestat as the star defendant/witness? Hmm…. the show produced more emotionality, and made more sense of these characters (in terms of delivering an overarching thematic arc and coherent story) than the movie, unfortunately. But it’s a disservice to pit against each other two pieces of art
