I've not read the book, but this was an enjoyable watch. It throws you into a universe with its own rules and mythos and you immediately want to learn more. I would have appreciated more lead up and backstory before things really kicked off, but it's already a nearly 3 hour film, not really any room left for that. The immediate ending felt a little cheesy, (I really kinda hate the "desert power" lines) but overall I'm looking forward to more in Part 2.
